December is a time to rest and seek shelter from the harsh elements. It’s also a time to think, plan, and organize for the legislative season that awaits us. Being a midterm election year, getting anything constructive done will be a huge challenge. Politicians will pander to their constituents and stick to emotionally charged talking points. Partisanship and party loyalty will be the guiding light in 2022. Where does that leave us? It all depends. Will leaders try to reign in the economy forcing employment up? Will rents and housing prices continue to skyrocket? Will distribution lines continue to backlog? Will the price shock of energy products continue? Will boomers continue to exit the labor market? There are a lot of unknowns besides COVID-19, but we have no time to waste because the legislative calendar starts in January.
