It takes a team

Self-Determination may seem just a lot of hard work, soaking up all your time and energy. If you go it alone and try to do everything yourself, it can seem that way. I confess at times I have been that person trying to do everything by myself.

May be some people enjoy going rogue, but I am not one of them. I am a team player and I function at my best when I am part of a team. Granted team players need to pull their weight and contribute to a winning team. It didn’t take me long to see that playing Self-Determination as part of a team was better than going solo.

I find the longer I am in Self-Determination, the more I rely on my teammates for inspiration and getting things done. Collaboration becomes the essential skill. Clear, respectful communication becomes key.

It may seem strange for me to say this but for me Self-Determination is not about me, but the team, not my success, but the team’s success. I believe the team members should be tight and committed to each other and to achieving the team’s goals.

The more I am a team member, the lighter the load becomes. Now I see myself as the QB calling the plays, but I have a full team playing to get the job done. I take pride in my team because we are champions. Everyone is completely selfless and dedicated to winning. Being on a team has changed Self-Determination less work and a job and more like playing and a game, and we are going all the way to victory.
