A lot of work went into getting my plan approved, As I have said before, on the day my plans and budget were approved we had a party. I am still proud of what we accomplished although we had to down the road significantly change our goals. An important lesson about I learned the hard way, but it bears worth repeating–the past is fixed, I can’t change it, the future is yet to be and unknowable, I can only live in the present and celebrate that. So regardless of where you are in Self-Determination celebrate where you are as you are. You will still have a lot of work to be done before things are done, but celebrate the wonder of the moment. We have no idea what tomorrow will bring. Living with my disabilities and health issues has taught me that. There are things simply outside our control., and planning for each and every contingency is impossible. Live with a child’s wide eye wonder. The details will take of themselves.
