l hear people tell me to think creatively, outside the box. Social workers are especially fond of this. That is a lot easier said than done, I am a plain order guy, quite satisfied with the same old current conditions. However, Self-Determination places a premium on creativity. Fortunately for me, I am a good listener and if someone else comes up with a good idea, I will take it to heart. Another good habit of mine is to read and read periodically my IPP. I always find it amazing to discover things in it, things that I had previously overlooked. That is why I tell people to read their IPP from the time, especially if their situation changes. This is an acquired skill and found I get better at it as time goes by. I wish I had a larger budget, but being in Self-Determination isn’t writing Santa Claus a wish list. Money doesn’t grow on trees, and someone has to pony up and pay the bills. Fortunately, I have a modest income and some savings, so combined I can afford to get the supports and services I want.
