Grace, dignity, meaning, and purpose

I hear a lot about having it all–home, career, education, spouse, family, and friends. My experience is that life can be fickle and we might not be able to have it all. Sometimes we have no control over what we do and don’t have, but that still makes us fully human. We have free-will, the power of choice. We can choose to lead our lives with grace, dignity, meaning, and purpose regardless of our circumstance. There is nobility and character in the human spirit. Disabilities speak to our functionality,, but are heart attests to our value as a human being. The next time you see a commercial on the TV, remember it is not what you own or consume that brings you true happiness but who you are.
