Let’s Talk

Five pillars–freedom, choice, control, accountability, and confirmation support self-determination. They shape my life in the program on a continual basis. While important, my drive to maintain open communication with the team comes first. For me, having a tight, well running team does wonders for my self-esteem because winning teams don’t happen by accident.

Having a tight team is very important for several reasons. It is hugely motivational. With everyone committed to the same goals, it is much easier to get passed the frustrations of the moment. Likewise, the shared wisdom of the team helps me get through and solve the problems that I encounter. Being on a team helps me stay humble and not to think too highly of myself. It is not about me but the team although I am in charge.

Having a team helps me feel that I am not doing the plan all by myself. It is all of us working and playing together to reach our goals. I say playing for a reason. When the team is tight, the members are highly competent, and the goals are clearly defined, working towards our goals feels like play and there is excitement and enthusiasm doing it.
