Shackles

How many of us live in bondage? I can definitely say I did. I lived weighed down with old ways of thinking and feeling. I was intolerant, judgemental, and rigid. I was chained to what I couldn’t do and believed I needed to be fixed. I wasn’t at all happy with others or myself. Breaking bonds didn’t come easily or quickly. I had to challenge and let go of many deeply held beliefs and values. I find now I can accept more people, and I have more friends and less them. I don’t need to be fixed because I was made the way I am, no more and no less. Much of the anger is gone and I feel that now I can be a positive self-advocate. I feel freer now to live in the present and into the future. How about you? Have you broken any shackles lately?
